Caller: Claimed to be Telstra but obvious they are notThese hoax callers are getting cleverer. Just received a call from this number. A voice-activated pre-recorded message in a female Australian accent claiming to be from Telstra technical department (no such thing exists). Message said that my internet was being compromised by foreign IP addresses and may be disconnected automatically. For support I should press 1 if a Telstra customer and 2 if somebody else's customer. Telstra never phones its customers - it contacts them by mail or email. DO NOT press anything if you receive this call. HANG UP!! If you are silly enough to press a number you will be most likely directed to a non-existent call centre run by Indians pretending to be Australians who will try to do exactly what they try to do when they speak to you themselves - take control of your computer via the internet and download illegal and malicious software specifically designed to track your key strokes and mouse clicks so as to steal all of your personal information with the purpose of committing identity theft and fraud.
