Hi, I've looked up my own telephone number and it says it belongs to another joker I've never heard of, and I've had my number for 17 years. So I don't think it's a reliable source of the the owner - sorry, just saying. The nut job apparently is still on the job. Oh BTW they're phoning all over the east coast, yet the problem continues to be ignored by Optus and Telstra??

Could be a clown from inside Optus or Telstra - yet neither company have the interest to check it out

I just had a call asking about an accident I'd had. Said I'd not been in an accident. Called the number back and it's disconnected. Wtf.

just called our business 32 times asking the same thing, we ended hanging up on them each time due to caller id

Same story and a White Pages search confirms the number belonged to E.James , 272 Glenwood Park Drive , Glenwood 2768 . So these scum are probably insiders at Optus with access to disconnected numbers ?

Got a call today from 88829710 and did a name lookup, and it seems there still at it, it's been happening a lot lately. 20 Minutes prior someone else called (07) 5531 7812 I say hello, and they do not answer, day before yesterday this number called 3 times (03) 8820 5472, I have caller ID also. It's ridiculous.

We have about 30 phones in our office and multiple incoming switchboard lines. Every phone got at least one phone call. The reception phone was non-stop for about 5 minutes with these calls. As soon as you ask them any question they hung up. There is always a pause before the call is connected to them so you know it's them. Very frustrating trying to operate a business with this rubbish happening.

Just received a call from this number. No one on the end of line. Good to know what to expect if they return the call.

Incessant calls. Finally answered and they said they were following up on a claim. Then asked if I had an accident and when I said "no" they just hung up. Have now barred that number!

I had a phone call today - same as all the others. They said I had been in an accident and had been given my details by my insurer. I refused to discuss the matter and the woman on the phone hung up.

we had a call from this same number this afternoon, he asked how i was , i said good thanks, he said he was from some accident place, and had been advised i had been i a car accident , then he was about to say something else, and i remembered reading about this scam on facebook , so i hung up on him.

Received call from this number 22 Oct 2015. I returned call but message allegedly from Optus to the effect that the number had been disconnected. Does some person/organization sell disconnected numbers to dubious persons/organizations?

Getting incessant calls from this number. Wanting details of a car accident in which they allege I was involved. When I tell them they must have the wrong number, and I have never been in a car accident, they hang up. No apologies, no explanation. Then I get another call asking the same thing. As I have caller ID, I pick up the handset, and don't speak, knowing they are paying for a long distance call. Idiots.

calls from the number: (02) 8882 9710 We got two calls from this number, one on the home phone, one on the business phone, they said they have been informed that we had a car accident recently, when my husband asked where they got that information from he said from the insurance company. When asked which insurance company?.....he promptly said, he had the wrong number and hung up. When we tried to call the number back, the Optus message said it was a disconnected number???

They even call the Police Station that I work at. Even we are not immune , or amused.

Just had ANOTHER call from this number. This time, they hung up when I answered, but have had varied responses each time. I've wondered if the operator only has to show that they've rung the number, and say that there was no answer, to earn their pay - perhaps that's why so many hang up as soon as you answer!! I'm on the 'Do not call' register as well as having a silent number - makes me wonder why I pay for the service!!

i just start talking jibberish and mixing random sentences together. same number as listed here. i told them i wanted to order a cheeseburger no pickles and she just hanged up, how rude!
