I got this call at 9:17pm which is a very odd time for a phone call, so I knew instantly it was a scam and voila, was confirmed by this thread. Just left the phone to ring out.

Indian man, said he was from Telstra and asked me to stand in front of my modem to run some 'checks' as my speed hasn't been working properly (well that's true, but it still sounded sus) I told him I would prefer to call Telstra myself. He gave me a number to call and told me his 'employee ID' to do the check, and told me to hold the call with him while I checked it. I went online and messaged Telstra who said NO, no one was calling me currently. Since hanging up, I've had 10+ phone calls from all different numbers, one after the other, which I just keep rejecting.

Caller: Please dont give this caller ANY information - 100% ScammerAn Indian guy called from this number; and tried to scam my brother who is autistic I was able to intervene JUST in time! The Indian guy claimed that amazon product purchases were made without my brothers authorisation; and that according to their "services australia" records; the purchases occurred in California, Minnesota & other international locations. Long story short- the Indian instructed my brother to install the western union app, comm bank app & two other apps which I had never seen yet alone heard of When I asked him who he was he became defensive - this is where all of a sudden I noticed that my brothers phone was being remotely controlled; as in it was moving through apps by Itself!! This spooked me out so I kept exiting the apps each time - he kept trying to get into them and got so angry that he yelled "stop touching it; don't do anything" In the end he hung up and straight away I uninstaller the apps that he had instructed my autistic brother to install So please, please avoid 🙏
