I answer and no one is there, I am frustrated at how many calls I get daily when I am on the do not call register and they do not answer or leave a message, so how do you know it is a legitimate caller and not a scammer?!

A woman with an indian accent called me just after 7.00p.m. to tell me that they had installed some free downlights at our place under a government scheme some time ago. Told her we had no lights installed and then hung up on her. I had a similar call about 4 months ago.

These idiots are still going, had a call just before 3pm on a Saturday arvo 13 Jan 2017. Picked up the phone said hello and no one spoke, just silence so i slammed the phone down. Bloody annoying!

Also receiving calls from this number which are just silent, and then disconnected - what is the point?

Silence, followed by engaged tone. To those saying they’re on the DO NOT CALL register, that is only good for calls that originate from within Australia. These calls are made over the internet from India.

Called saying they installed down lights 2 years ago. I told them that was not the case. He said that's ok he was calling about solar panels this time. I advised him I was on the 'do not call' register, and he (in a very cheeky way) told me had never called me before. I asked what company he was from, and he told me he didn't know. I hung up.

A call from this number just woke me. It looked like a local number so I returned the call - but a recording told me the number is not connected. How do we get nuisance calls from numbers that apparently don't exist? It is infuriating. I've blocked the number so with luck won't get any more calls.

Received a call at 8:30am today, answered and it was a recorded Chinese female voice, no clue what she was saying. I hung up and dialed the number only to be told it's disconnected....

Caller: Very nervous Indian ladyWants to come on Tuesday at lunchtime to change the light globes in my house. Someone changed them already for free three or four years ago. Interesting to see if she turns up.

I rang back: "This number is unavailable."

These scamming pests have started up again. I had to unblock some of the numbers used by scammers because of my phone's limited memory, and this must have been one of them because they called today, woke me, and didn't bother leaving a message. I am sick and tired of this.

Caller: They keep calling me as I had my house LED globes added.With the NBN we cannot block Home Phone numbers..but we can blacklist on mobiles.

Received call from this number - at my dinner time - caller could hardly speak english. Try to tell me about some lights that were provided to us. Told her, have no idea what she is talking about and that I am on a DO NOT CALL REGISTER - hung up on her. Why am I still getting calls when I am registered and why is there no available control for us living in Australia. They also call me on my mobile, which is not advertised anywhere. Does anyone care at all about these nuisance calls?

rubbish caller trying to claim they supplied free lightglobes. all lies tempting to use stronger language but do not answer

I no longer answer landline, bcos of these creeps! Several such calls per day, usually lunch or dinner time. It’s like being a hostage in your own home.

Called me right in the middle of my evening meal, caller with Indian accent tried to tell me he had supplied free downlights under some government scheme some time ago, which is an outright lie. This is a scammer trying to get personal information in order to steal money. I called back the number later and it said 'number is not available'. Do not give them your details. Instead, ring your local member of parliament during dinner and tell them to remove these idiots and the Australian companies that sell them the telephony facilities. This is a national disgrace.
