Just got the same message as Ferret and Mark. Sounds very spammy to me. Just going to block the number on my phone so I never have to hear from them again.

"Records indicate you were involved in an accident in the last 2 years. As such you are entitled to claim compensation. Reply CLAIM for info or STOP to opt out" blocked caller did not send STOP as my husband got caught once with doing that and we ended up with nearly $200 worth of extra costs on our phone bill.

Just got exactly the same message on my mobile today. Clearly a new scam going around.

Got this message today. Don't reply to it at all, just ignore it.

Received this sms 30/8/2016. Same text message as others noted. Do not reply. Definitely a scam to test if your number is real. These spam callers have data systems that spit out random phone number combinations, which they then test. If they get a response, they know yours is a valid number and can then use it for other marketing or onsell it to other marketers. Try registering your number on the 'do not call' list to avoid these in the future. (https://www.donotcall.gov.au/)

I just got this message (twice). I won't be replying/confirming my number with them. Tried ringing the number from a landline and got the 'phone is switched off' recorded message. I didn't think I'd actually get a clue as to who it was, but thought it was worth a crack.

I got the message, but now they changed it to 2.5 years. it is a sniffing strategy who knows what they are looking for. Is there a way to report this number as used for SCAM?

Got the same message as everyone else and I just blocked from SMS and calls. The message is "Records indicate you were involved in an accident in the last 2.5 years. As such you are entitled to claim compensation. Reply CLAIM for info or STOP to opt out". They are scammers be aware.

Just got the same message and rang the number from a public landline and got the message, this phone is switched off or out of reception area. I will be blocking it too!

Nearly everyone who gets this hasn't been involved in an accident in the last two years so what happens if you take the bait and reply STOP?
