Caller: First a woman, then a man. SE Asian accents both.I do not have Caller ID on my landline which was phoned about upgrading my internet to NBN Woman was so ignorant of ADSL, copper wire landline, fibre to home that I gave no more than my current speed. Was passed to male who got angry when I argued that it was implausible that my rural remote area would get fibre to node or fibre to house.
by Anonymous on 2025-05-02Caller: Lisa MartinI recieved a call from 'Lisa Martin' who claimed to be able to improve our NBN speed. Did not ask for any of me details and did not advise which provider she was from. After giving me a number to call for the technician 1800 687 626, I googled the number and found this page. Told her she was a scammer which she denied and then she hung up.
by Anonymous on 2025-07-25Caller: Claims to be from NBN CoCaller rang from a number which had caller ID hidden. Claims to be from NBN Co and asks whether our internet speeds have been affected by unusual activity. On querying, he suggests calling this 1800 number to verify his call and also offers a website you can search on Google. Scam.
by Anonymous on 2021-06-25Do not reply or talk to anyone calling you from this number or even talk to them just hang up.
by Anonymous on 2022-03-02Caller: ScamMy Indian speaking scam caller last week told me Mike Lee is the NBN technician coming around 😂
by Anonymous on 2022-05-18Caller: NBN scammersame old deal, said he was form NBN ( I was an NBN tech for 8 years and 25 years at Telstra before this) I quizzed him and asked for call back number 1800 687 626 ha ha. NBN, Telstra and the government have the technical knowledge ,process and legal power to trace and catch these people but won't
by Anonymous on 2022-08-04Caller: Claimed to be NBN technicianRang me from a mobile no. Said there is a problem with my internet speed & they wanted to upgrade it.& gave me this 1800 no. when I asked for a no. to call them back on (haven't called that no.). Will call Telstra to see what they know.
by Anonymous on 2022-10-13Caller: on our land line an Indian pretending to work for NBNCaller tried to book in an appointment with a Peter Wilson to replace a modem gave me the 1800 687 626 for the contact. I led him along but he cut off as soon as I said I have no mobile. I am tired of these people phoning at least once a week. This use of the internet is absolutely non productive and and a great expense to business and governments. Why do we have to contend with such nonsense.See they have been doing this for over a year. Put a stop to this rubbish. The internet might be of some use but over time it is getting worse, what a faulty product it is. Good inventions are meant to help the world.
by Anonymous on 2023-05-25Caller: John MartinTwo different people with hard to understand accents called, saying a parcel would be delivered tomorrow containing modem, cables, etc, but said don't open it because it is for the installation the day after tomorrow. We hadn't scheduled any installation or upgrade, so mum assumed it was a scam so hung up. They called back several times insisting that she needed the upgrade otherwise her phone would be cut off for 90 days. They quoted phone number 1800 687 626 (legit NBNCO number), along with the caller's name John Martin and his id JM9748, which they said mum should write down. Mum is pretty scam-savvy and said this was one of the more convincing ones. I used online chat with mum's telco to verify if they had anything planned that we weren't aware of, which they didn't. NBNCO support business hours end at 6pm, and the first scammer called after 6pm. The timing is probably on purpose so if potential victims try to call NBNCO, they get a real message, but can't speak to anyone until the next day. Meanwhile the scammers call back shortly after.
by Anonymous on 2023-11-07Caller: STUART FROM 001166852514First called from (02) 5303 1529 said to my wife he wanted to make an appointment for us to get the Tech JOHN MARTIN to come and upgrade copper to fibre, she told him to call back when I was home at 6pm. he called back from 0011668502514 could be some digits missing. Booked the appointment, gave me 1800 687 626 as a contact, then wanted my mobile number, I said NBN already have my number I will not give it to him, he said hold on, then came back and said give me the last 4 digits, I said if you don't have my number what is the use of the last 4 digits, I said "YOU should be giving ME the last 4 digits if you have my number" He hung up
by Anonymous on 2024-01-29Caller: NBN SwindlersGot the same deal as most others here. Previously i was always hanging up, but they adapt. after about 3 attempts in the latest round of calls they got my attention with your copper line will be upgraded to fibre. I figure only NBN would know something like that, Maybe this is legit, okay now I'm listening, except for the names shane, mark watson -azif your name's shane bro- it sounded ok . Do i need to pay anything ? No. Ok then, appointment made Techie will be out on friday what time suits you? Techie needs your mobile number in case....sure, then transfers me to senior who explains what will happen next, confusing babble, need debit/credit card number for some admin registering fee. No, not giving it, u do the work then bill me and i pay and we go round and round with me repeatedly saying no not giving it with the dude getting increasingly hot under the collar trying to convince me they're legit explaining he didn't ask for the pin number so he's not a fraudster, the bank will send u a txt blah blah, then threats of u will be cut off and will need to pay $400 to get reconnected - enough, i hang up. shifty effers. Wouldn't surprise me if they're reading these comments to create better hooks for the suckers. I got sucked in until part 2 of the con and now they have my mobile number, so future scams will be even more convincing.
by Anonymous on 2025-02-18Caller: “Alex Martin” from NBN-Indian speaking.Told me that because of the floods, NBN is helping customers to check their NBN speed. Wanted me to go to my modem and report how many lights were on. There would be no cost to me. Told “Alex” my husband is a computer engineer, I am no good with technology and my husband will call back. “Alex” told me it might be difficult as his colleagues were currently assisting other customers. Rang this number which IS a NBN number- the recorded message re scams advised that NBN doesn’t make unsolicited calls- any contact would be in writing. So! Dodged a bullet here!
by Anonymous on 2022-12-01Caller: 0483 900 926Claimed to be from NBN . Scam call and gave me 1800 687 626 number for nbn. Just hang up or don't answer call.
by Anonymous on 2023-04-22Called my 84 year old mother and claimed to be from NBN and advised a technician would be at her house on a set date. Then told her his ID #DF00189 (David) however he did not know her telephone number (which he had just called her on). Said that Richard Martin would be the technician ID #RM00786 and will be installing things? Prior to the “install”, Mum will receive 3 packages - 7 gen modem, 12m fibre optic cable and 2 cordless telephones. My mother hung upon him thank goodness but then received numerous calls from different locations which she did not answer. These people are next level scammers preying on vulnerable people!,
by Anonymous on 2023-06-03Caller: “Travis Scott”Called from (03) 7045 5093. “John Martin” employee number JM9748 was coming next week to replace cables and modem. Until I refused to give “Travis Scott” employee number TS8017 my mobile phone number. He then said landline and mobile phones at this address will be disconnected in the next 24hours.
by Anonymous on 2023-10-16Caller: 1800 687 626Indian/Asian sounding "STEVEN MAXWELL" harassing my aging mother (who has just called me in tears) saying they said she needs to let them in to change her NBN from Copper to Fiber and come into the house to replace the NBN box... She was told they need to do the work, but will need to call her while it is cut off. Unfortunately she gave her mobile number to them when asked. They have been calling her back and when she called their number kept getting the same guy who got increasingly threatening saying he would have her phone lines cut off. After she hangs up he would call right back again with more threats. He has threatened to go to her house next Friday to sort it out... I know he won't, but I am contemplating being there out of curiosity. I don't think anyone would dare. I am a bit surprised to see the same number 1800 687 626 in the comments since 2021. in this day and age you would think something could be done about this nonsense.
