Caller: SMS Message - 0429 133 751I received a previous SMS on 28 June - allegedly from Probe Group re an important matter referred by the ATO. That SMS gave a different number to call. A quick phone all and a quick internet search led me to believe that this is an attempt to to elicit personal information.

Caller: ScamSpoke with this caller after receiving the similar message, they knew so much about my business affairs, and after asking for a payment that i could provide my credit card I asked if i could phone back as I had to go urgently. Spoke with my agent and details did not match in any way, and alerted me it was a scam. I rang them back and once i called them a scam and discussing behavior they start yelling and swearing at me... Keep away from these scamers!

Do not call 1800 721 111 its FAKE! I called ATO and the message below wasnt sent by ATO. A message from a number asking me to call back on 1800 721 111. Exact message said Hi, The Australian Taxation Office has referred an important matter to Probe. Please call 1800 721 111 and qoute #######. I have hashed out the qoute number so that the SCAMMERS dont know which person is lodging this here.

I’ve read almost every post on this page about this number 1800 721 111. Thank you for all writing your experiences as I now know it’s a complete scam! I’ll just be ignoring it! Thanks guys!

Caller: Probe Group for ATOReceived several messages over last few months from "Probe Group" on behalf of "Australian Taxation Office" asking me to call them on 1800 721 111 regarding "an important matter". After doing a little research on the internet I now believe this is a scam, it is not from "Probe Group" who do act as debt collectors for ATO but show a different phone number on their website. SCAM!

Just a note. Go to the ATO website, type in "Probe" in the search bar, click on the first search result. Scroll down and you'll find 1800 721 111 listed as one of the numbers for Probe's ATO department. The ATO hadn't updated the numbers on the website until recently
