Got the same message saying to call NRMA and he correctly cited the claim number. The feeble german accent and background rattling of fingers on a keyboard threw it for me totally. If they want to con Aussies they need to sound like Aussies. Any calls I get from Asian, Indian or German accents get treated with the greatest suspicion . But you have to wonder where the caller got the claim number from and how secure is the NRMA claims department? I am convinced there are rats in the ranks working in the Claims Department. The ppl I spoke to in there sound just as sleazy as the guy making the fake phone call. I's a worry. NRMA CLEAN UP YOUR ACT PLEASE!!
by Anonymous on 2017-05-27Caller: A lady by the name of DebbieMessage left on my phone" Hello A******, This is Debbie calling from your provider of Insurance NRMA. Please call us back on 1800 806 702 our hours are 8.30-5pm. Please quote your reference number NRM182****** Not sure what this is about as i only have road side assistance with NRMA not any other insurances or claims pending. Really starting to get annoyed constantly having scammers call my number daily. It makes it hard now to distinguish genuine callers bearing in mind that they do have some of your personal information.
by Anonymous on 2018-06-07We received a text message saying 'NRMA Insurance Reference No NRMXXXXXXXX. We have been unable to contact you. Please contact us on 1800 806 702 between 8.30am to 5.00pm Mon-Fri and quote your....' My husband contacted NRMA to verify that the information was from NRMA. They confirmed it was and asked us to called. I called, however the girl told me that I was involved in an accident. As I was not the policy owner I felt it wasn't right for me to proceed with making a claim. She was able to provide all the details over the phone yet it was all a little odd. My mother contacted NRMA on their own number and they said 'Oh it must have been one of those scams'. Even though the personal information she had was correct. SUMMARY: Do not contact the 1800 number just contact NRMA directly. Go to their website and find their number http://www.nrma.com.au/. They phone number may be legit but they are clueless.
