Phone number appeared on a popup page on daughters tablet . the pop up stated her device had viruus,s on it and she should ring this number to remove them. it also blocked access to the internet via windows explorer. restated the computer and page was still blocking access to internet. called the number and person with indian accent claiming to be microsoft support tried to talk us into being transferred to a technician who could help us. I wa s suspicious and finally got from him that he was based in India. His name was Jeff. we hang up, went through another computer to thr real microsoft support ( I hope). Another Indian gentleman eplained that this was a scam that has been quite widely documented however this didnt come from a cold call this came through the internet. very worrying that these sites are so persistent and they can get legitimate numbers and email sites to continue there scams.. come on goverment redeploy your resources from speed cameras and do some real policing

by Anonymous on 2015-11-07Received the same "Windows" pop ups with outrageous claims. Wanted between 200-500 dollars to "fix" problems. Keep in mind the only support no. for Micosoft is 13 20 58. Call this number if these crims try to scam you. Log off and run full scan.
by Anonymous on 2016-06-08Had loads of windows open and was trying to close them all when a serious pop up alerted me to call this toll free number who claimed to be Windows security help centre(or something like that). It looked quite serious and i did wonder how something could have gotten through my firewall and anti virus. Called the number and an indian women answered saying she was based in North Sydney(Windows) and could pass me to a technician. They wanted me to add letters(http etc) into the Run section of my computer. This alerted me and I wanted her to verify who they were and how she could verify herself before i let some random person access my computer and do what they wanted. She got annoyed when I was not convinced about her clearance and said i should hang up. Googled it and its a scam! So glad i didnt give access!

Not who they say they are. Scammers claiming a virus has hacked your computer.
