A message was left saying it was the Tax Office and that I must ring them straight away - not to discard the message - about a fraud case concerning me. I had a similar call a couple of years ago, but my answering machine showed the call as coming from overseas - so when I stood up to the caller to say the Australian Tax Office wouldn't make a call from overseas, I was sworn at and the caller hung up.

Left a message in a song song voice with the hint of sub-continent accent saying they were a "Federal investigation" and to ring back urgently. Didn't bother.

tax collector fraud

Have had four phone calls from this number first two to tell me I have defrauded the ATO and a warrant for someone at my address will be executed if I do not call back. Next day I am required to call the number straight away that a warrant has been issued to arrest someone in the household. It is time that these people were brought to justice.

Received a call from this number – straight a recorded message: “This is a very important message, the Australian Taxation Office has issued an arrest warrant on you (does anyone still believe in this rubbish?). You need to act immediately…” and so on Male voice, Indian accent – trying very hard to put on American accent. Called back. The same voice answered, with Indian accent, plain and simple now: “This is Australian Taxation Office”. I asked “What is your name?” He said, after hesitation “John Adamson” I asked surprised “John Adamson?!” He realised what was happening, he hissed “Yes, motherf*cker.” Made me laugh! Crims & scumbags.

My elderly mother also received a similar message on answering machine. When you call the number it said it was disconnected. It caused her much concern. These people should not be stopped....how do they even get her number...it is not listed.!!
