Called 4 times on a Saturday. I googled the number and it said was from global service centre for department of visa, immigration etc. answered the 4th time they called, mandarin speaking guy asked if I was such and such, asked if I spoke Chinese, when I said no, he hung up. Scam call. So many red flags. Saturday call, non English speaking caller claiming to be from department of immigration, kept asking if you speak Chinese, hangs up on you when you say no. Don’t pick up.

Caller: (02) 6196 0196Today, just few minutes ago, found missing calls twice from this same number of (02) 6196 0196, after using google searching, and says this is a number from Australia Government Home and Affair, but it is very RARE to me. So, need to be careful to pick-up any call from now even a call number appears as a truely of Australia number.

23/04/2025 at 16:50 received a call from this number, a mandarin male speaker (not very fluent) just pretended to be a worker from the immigration office, saying a number ended as 739 is sending scam messages to other people about visa application etc., I said it's not my number and if you are working for the immigration office you should be able to send me an email, and he said he can't. I hung up and he called me 4 times afterwards. Idiot. Definitely a fraud, should be using some tools to fake this number. Just writing this comment to let you know they're still doing this.

Caller: (02) 6196 0196Mandarin speaking guy who already knew my last name and asked if it was a good time to talk. They claimed to be from the Australian Immigration Office and said they received complaints about a phone number (gave me a different AU number) involved in illegal activity. They told me the number was registered under my name, with my current number listed as a secondary contact. The caller then asked if I had signed a Vodafone contract on 16 April 2025 or shared my personal details with anyone recently. They claimed the IP address linked to the registration was traced to Guangzhou, China and asked whether I was currently in Australia or China and if I have family in China who has my details. He provided his full name, work ID, and case number, and told me to report the issue to local Chinese police due to a supposed data leak in China. He then offered to transfer me to the “local Chinese police department.” I hung up, but they’ve been calling me non-stop since.

Scam call for today saying my information is leaking in China. my passport is with other nonsense people. be mindful of what they said.

Caller: Immigration DepartmentMandarin speaker with strong Taiwan accent. Knows your name. Pretend to be immigration Department officer. Telling you will be restricted to leave the country within 2 hours, due to fake passport found in China, etc. Rubbish.

This person calling saying I had meth in the package I sent to China. He said I’d get 15 year sentence in jail and I said that’s fine if he wanted my address for the arrest. He hung up.

Caller: Government department He know my name and asked can I speck chinese , I said No I’m not a chinese than he hang up.

A lady claimed her name is Robin and gives a job id and document id saying I am involvedwith immigration documents fraud..A bit South American accent and insisting me to go to the officer in 2 hours otherwise I will be fined. She even asks me to check online for the number called to verify. Too bizarre and scammer.

Just received a call today. Mandarin speaker knows my name, but cannot speak English. This number is searched as the Department of home affairs in Canberra, but why cannot speak English? Careful to answer this number.

Asian caller with knowledge of full name, claimed to be from Australian border force who had been contacted by Chinese customs in guangzhou about a package that has been held purportedly containing meth when declared as sugar... Phone number comes up as Customs Broker - 365 Freight and Customs PTY LTD on Android phone and caller tried to fake legitimacy by asking to check / confirm the number.

I received a call from this number this morning. This scammer upgraded their staff to those who speak English with a bit of Southeast Asian accent. However, it was hard to understand what the lady was saying at first time, I said could you please write down your request and send it by email as I don't know what you are requesting. She said it was an emergency call, and our calls would be recorded bla bla bla. Finally, I understand her meaning. the lady said I had a package from China containing something illegal bla bla bla. I said so what is the resolution, she said she would ask her manager and let me hold...Scammer indeed!!! Be careful everyone! They upgraded with English speakers!!!!!

I have contacted the High Commission of Australia, regarding the calls coming from this number. And they have confirmed it is a scam call. They will try to contact people who have a name that sounds Asian. The scam using a VOIP redirection to pretend that the number is an official Australian Number. If you call the number you will get the correct department, however if the number is calling you, then it could be a digital number generated from elsewhere. If they are trying to make out you have done something illegal, or otherwise, please note that the official australian government departments don't do this. And if you have done something illegal, you will have a police officer at your front door, thats how it works in Australia.
