With this new rise, he said AGL is offering a discount and wants to “purchase” my current plan and sell me a new one and I will received $250 credit. I told him that doesn’t make any sense for a private company to do that and there is no logical reasoning. He said that a lot of customers are switching providers and that’s why they are doing it. Hung up after that because no energy company would ever do that lol

by Anonymous on 2024-11-28Caller: Claimed to be AGL RepReceived multiple calls in last 4 weeks from this same number, finally picked one today, I told him I am busy and going for a meeting, please send me an email, he didn't stop, kept speaking the script he had. I hung up on him, considering it a scam. He called me back and was very rude, actually told me that "Did you just hung up on me? Don't do it, I was in the middle my sentence. Don't hung up on me okay". (Very loud and rude) So, I hung up on him again :D

They said no..they are genuine. But haven't got any mail till today. Have lodged a complaint with ACMA and AGL too.

by Anonymous on 2023-06-02Caller: A lady with an indian accentCalled to offer a discounted gas rate. Questioned her whether this was a scam call (based on information provided on this site). She was able to provide details noone else would know. Called AGL afterwards on their maim line to verify the authenticity of the call. AGL confirmed it was a genuine call and we are signed up to reduced rates.

by Anonymous on 2024-02-18Caller: Says AGLI received a phone call (02) 8229 5864 this morning . She claimed to be AGL with Indian accent, offering lower gas rates and asking for surname, address and Medicare card number. I called AGL at 131245 later and asked them if they called me earlier. AGL said they did call me and my gas plan has been changed to the lowest available rates. Seems like that's a genuine call.

by Anonymous on 2023-06-07Caller: They call themselves AGL marketingAfter receiving relentless number of calls from this number I decided to answer… She knew my first name (she had a Filipino accent), and started to offer me an AGL competitive no lock-in contract for 12months and no exit fees! It sounded to good to be true and no telemarketer would call to offer something for less without a catch… I was polite and when I said no and that I’ll probably be looking for another provider soon anyways, she immediately hung up mid sentence… Just goes to show that they were not genuine… I will just block this number as sick of receiving 2 calls a day from them - which is almost bordering on harassment… If this is AGL’s idea of marketing they need to review their strategy… as it’s a big turn off both for existing customers and potential customers…

Caller: AGLSaid they were AGL and would give me a $300 credit and better rates. Wanted a one time passcode that she sent me, this is when I said no as my phone came up with your call being a scam. She yelled and said now you wont get a $600 credit. I went on to AGL and yes there were better plan rates but that was not from this caller, they were there all the time but I didn't have time to check rates until now. The text with the 1 time code came from AGL Energy but when I changed my plan and chatted on line the 1 time code they sent came from AGL not AGL Energy, so it is a scam from this number.
