The scammer tried to tell me that my number and email were used for money laundering and that they wanted to help me. The scam is they try and make you log into a site so that they can commence their attack. She hung up when she knew I was on to her.

by Anonymous on 2025-04-17Scammers saying phone number has been used for purchases on Amazon. Trying to get you to login to something on your phone. Dodgy.
by Anonymous on 2025-04-17Caller: Someone saying they're from AmazonMe: Yes? How can I help. Some delay in replying. Sound of multiple callers in the background. International call centre routed through this number? Scammer: This is Amazon calling. We have a suspicious purchase order and want to check it with you? Me: Okay (Already suspicious that he didn't use my name) Scammer: Are you buying an iphone? Me: No (Oh, one of these. Haha) Scammer: Are any of your relatives using your account to buy an iphone? Me: No (Playing dumb) Scammer: Do you have any friends or relatives overseas that have access to your Amazon account and are buying an iphone? Me: No Scammer: Well, it looks like someone in another country is trying to buy an iphone using your account. We need to block this purchase. Me: Okay Scammer: So, I'm going to send you a code to block this purchase. You'll see it comes from Amazon. Me: Okay Scammer: Did you get it? Me: Yes Scammer: So, tell me the number so that I can cancel this purchase. It's from Amazon so you know it's real. Me: It says I can't give the OTP out to anyone. Scammer: Yes, but this is Amazon calling and I generated that OTP to cancel this purchase. Let's finalise this. Read it out to me. Me: I'm in my account now and there's no evidence of an order being made. Scammer: It's an overseas order. (What? Like all Amazon accounts are not linked? Haha) Me: Hmm. I think I'll look into this further and call Amazon back. Thank you for your call. Scammer: No, this is Amazon! Me: <click>
